About

Ms. Susan Pettit

I am a life-long resident of Ohio and attended Capital University Law School. I graduated from Law School Cum Laude in 1997. While in Law School, I was elected to membership in The Order of the Curia National Honorary Legal Fraternity. I am licensed to practice Law in the State of Ohio, the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Immediately after becoming licensed to practice law, I was an attorney with the Franklin County Public Defender’s Office for over 4 years. In 2002, I began my private practice law firm. During this time I handled all types of misdemeanor cases in Municipal Court, all levels of felonies in the Common Pleas Court from lower level felonies up to Aggravated Felonies such as Aggravated Murder, Rapes and all other Sex Crimes. I have handled many cases in Federal District Court and participated in multi-defendant trials in U.S. Federal District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. In 2010, I became the Director of the Ross County Public Defender’s Office in Chillicothe, Ohio. I held that position for over 5 years. While in that position, I supervised five other lawyers, clerical staff, and handled a full felony caseload. In 2016, I returned to practicing law in the private sector in Columbus, Ohio. I am a member of the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and The Columbus Bar Association. Unlike many law firms, I oversee all aspects of the cases. I am a strong advocate for my clients, and have been during the over 19 years I have been a Criminal Defense Lawyer. For example, through pretrial pleadings and Hearings, I obtained a complete Dismissal for a client who was charged with several counts of Rape that carried potential life sentences. I have handled thousands of misdemeanors and felonies and have a hands-on approach to my practice of law.
